A Really Cool Mentalist
Magic Trick!
-
Ok, here's the trick:
-
Have the
spectator(s) pick a number between 1 & 10
-
Have them
multiple that number by 9 (important!)
-
Ask if they
have a double-digit answer (hint: they should!) & if they do, they
should add those two digits together.
-
Whatever their
total, they should mentally subtract 5 (important) from their total.
-
Have them now
correlate or correspond the number they've arrived at with a letter of the
alphabet (i.e. if their number is "1", their letter is
"A". If their number is 2, their letter is "B.",
"3" is "C", "4" is "D", so on and so
forth.
-
Once they have
a letter, ask them to think of a European country that begins with that
letter.
-
Once they have
a country, have them think of the last letter of their country & then
think of an animal that begins with that last letter.
-
Once they have
an animal, have them think of the last letter of their animal & then
think of a color that begins with that last letter.
By now they should be thinking of: a color, an animal and a
country.
The answer should be orange kangaroos in Denmark!
Here's the secret...
The secret is having them multiply their "thought
of" number by 9. Anytime you multiply a number between 1 & 10, the sum
of the two digits equals nine. For instance: 9x2-18, 1+8=9; 9x3=27, 2+7=9,
9x4=36, 3+6=9. When they subtract 5, it should leave them with the number
"4" if they did all of their math correctly.
The 4th letter of the alphabet is "D." The only
European country that begins with "D" is Denmark. The rest is chance
but most people will pick kangaroo as the animal (sometimes koala with
aqua, aquamarine or amber as the color or
koala bear which usually ends up with red or rouge as the color.)
When they look at the last letter of "kangaroo,"
most people will select orange as their color. Sometimes they may say
"olive." so keep that in mind. If you don't say "European
country", you might end up with a wild answer like: teal cat in Dominica
Republic! Even specifying "European country" might end up with "Deutschland"
(Germany) being selected as the country... Be careful in your wording and have fun!
